This blog is full of creative and unique recycling ideas. I love to recycle things into new things :-) Milk jugs to dust pans, pallets to walls, bed sheets to kilts etc. Since recently disabled recycling has become an even bigger part of my life. Doors to tables and islands, soda bottle to self watering gardens the possibilities are endless and I have the time. Enjoy and PLEASE post remarks or questions, I love getting the input. We like to breath new life into our favorite old things!!!

Sheet PJ pants
Sheets are so comfy and soft you want to stay in them all day. Well you can!!!!!1 I even wear them under my work slacks and they feel so much better then thermals. I had a pair of pj bottoms that I made a recycled paper pattern of. I have made 8 pairs of these and the kids even love them. All of use wear different sizes and I can use one pattern for all of us. I use the pattern as is, adding a seam allowance. The checkered pair is with the pattern but no seam allowance added. The green ones are the pattern with a longer leg. I also found that shirring the top works great. The more rows I out the snugger the waist will become for a good fit. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Sheets!!!!!!
Snug sweater to awesome cardigan
I got this sweater at a Savers thrift store, I think it cost $1. I loved the color and fit, except where the bottom fell. I am tall and wear belts, this sweater sat right where my belt would and would rise up all day long over my belt. So I decided to turn it into a cardigan. I cut up the middle, ironed some black ribbon in half and sewed the ribbon the fresh cut edges. I also added a snap to the top to it would stay put. I love my new sweater!!!!!!!

Men's button up shirt skirt
We decided to make a skirt out of one of my husbands old button up shirts. We cut the bottom of the shirt off right below the pocket. Then the pleated were sewn in, we were lucky that we did not have to add any addition fabric, but if we did it would have been easy to add and hide in a pleat. The top black back is some t-shirt that was left over from another project. We did end up having to sew the buttons closed due to a pucker issue. That did not seem to bother the shirt at all except it is a slip on skirt now.
Recycled t-shirt Infinity dress
My son's girlfriend saw this dress in a recycled t-shirt book and here is the outcome an amazing custom fit dress. The bottom was made with 4 t-shirts, the middle band was 1 t-shirt and the upper and strap is made from bits and pieces of t-shirt laying around. Thus turned out soooooooo cute and has endless ways to wear it. The left is a basic dress and the right is the same dress as a skirt. Doesn't she look adorable?
Recycled t-shirt gloves
My sons girlfriend was looking for easy fabric to make glove from. They are all made from t-shirt sleeves. I always keep them after project because I knew they could find new life. The black ones were her first go at it and they came out great. But then she figured out fingers and came up with the purple ones for my son. The last part on the right are mine. I crochet a lot and my hands can quite cold. No anymore with my new fingerless gloves. Thank you Cassie!!!
Off the shoulder recycled t-shirts
My sons girlfriend and I spent the weekend making clothes for her and here is one of the creations. The purple is the bottom of a t-shirt that was pleated for this effect. The black t-shirt was cut right below the armholes and slip up the back. We were able to tie the back in little knots so the shirt had a more fitted look. She can wear it off one or both shoulders.
Graphic recycled T-shirt skirt
I had an old favorite graphic t-shirt that was a gift from my dad and step mom. It had some wear from years of use but I wanted it something more useful to me now. So I grabbed that and another nicely worn black t-shirt and started creating. You can see the back below and also what was left over fit in 1/2 a coffee can. The back for the blue shirt was left also but that will be a panel in another skirt. Since this is made with 100% recycled t-shirts it is super soft comfy.

Crocheted Bearded Viking Hat
He wanted a crocheted Viking hat, I thought it needed a beard also. So with some scrap yarn and scrap fleece for the horns. 4 of us went sledding shortly after I finished his hat, he was the warmest and looked the coolest. The beard was made with 2 different colors of yarn for effect.
